Held July 11 '09 at Giant Paintball's field in Alpine CA.
I attended and it was great. I'd say about 120 players attended, some like myself from other states.
I proudly displayed my team sponsor banners inc. the RedDot from a spot with high visibility along the access road. I met up with friends old and new ... it was great to see Whitey from Psycho Clown Posse again, and to meet Jay Botha, who ran the Radio-controlled mobile gun at Decay of Nations 2, he had a cool new Smokescreen projector. Most everyone was surprised when a tank showed up ... I should have packed my bazooka !
I was with the offense in the first game, following T-Devil from PCP - his marker suffered a major malfunction like 90 seconds into the game but he stayed in to command one wing of our assault, and we won. My "body count" was several more then the number of times I got shot. I only fell down once because of fighting through the ravine, a couple of guys took harder spills but no serious injuries. The Attackers won the first game pretty handily.
After a break they reset the game, tweaked the rules a bit (shrank the field a bit, adjusted the process for Defenders respawning), and since the heat had winnowed the player count some I got switched to the Defenders. There was some serious changing of tactics and ... the Castle held ! I brought up an extra pod-harness, 750 balls and a spare 16 oz tank - and we used every bit of it, but we held !
I want to acknowledge the hospitality of Independent Contractors, a great team
we should see more of in the future; Giant Paintball, with great people and a great field at Alpine; to JT for providing outstanding paintballs; Gary Baum for his documenting our game; Jay Botha for his always ingenious toys; Psycho Clown Posse, especially T-Devil and Whitey; and Blue's Crew who came 3000 miles to open this Event !
And we'll going to do it again in February !
